i am going to talk about self care habits that i do each day to help me feel at best. self care habits and routines may look different for everybody, but i think what we do all share in common is that we all need to take care of ourselves! so, here are some things that i do to make sure i give myself some love each day:
- walking -- going for a walk regularly is one of my favorite things to do because it's relatively easy to do, doesn't cost anything and i always feel so good after. it's also the time i think about the past, present, and future events of my life. it's a sort of meditation for me.. and probably for most people too, especially if you can get yourself out into nature, whether you live by some forests, or a body of water or park, just listening to natural sounds can really help me feel calm.
- electronic distractions -- do something around the house while you set your phone aside and turn the televisions off. especially when you are eating, not only you enjoy your food, but also if you have a company, you're also able to enjoy the food with the people you're eating with.
- doing dishes -- many people i know that doesn't really like washing dishes, but i actually find that washing dishes can also help reduce the level of my stress. it's like meditation in a form. i like to pay attention to the scent of the soap, or the sound of the water flows into the sink-- or paying attention to the shape of the plates and glasses.
- don't rush your bedtime routine -- a lot of times, i tend to rush things up before i hop into bed. i tend to quickly shower, or brush my teeth, i personally used to find those things to be really boring, but one thing i realized that turning those few minutes into something very relaxing can also be calming for us. something i like to do is taking a bath at night, putting moisturizer on, flossing.
- tea -- tea before bed is really where i tend to take a timeout for myself, where i also take time to write something in my journal. :)
so, there you have it riders! those are just some of the things i do to give myself love. i think that taking care of your mind and body is very important.
